With no pediatric oncology facilities in our area, vulnerable children must travel great distances to receive specialty care.
The Heart on Wheels program at Jacob's Heart ensures that no child will ever miss a medical appointment due to lack of safe, reliable transportation.
Heart On Wheels
Jacob’s Heart provides door-to-door rides to children’s specialty care appointments at UCSF and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford any day of the week.
How it works
Families reach out to their Family Support Specialist or the Transportation Manager to schedule a ride for their child’s medical appointment. The Transportation Manager coordinates the ride with one of Jacob’s Heart contracted drivers.
Gas Cards
Even with transportation, it can be financially burdensome to drive back and forth between appointments. We supply gas cards so families never have to worry about the cost of filling up their tank.
How it works
Families share the location of the appointment with their Family Support Specialist. After verification, the gas cards will be mailed to the family. For more information or to find out if you qualify, email yuritza@jacobsheart.org.
