The Queen of Resilience

Inspired by Courageous Kids
Addison has faced Neuroblastoma with unimaginable courage, meeting every challenge with the heart of a true fighter. She has turned her own bravery into compassion, helping other kiddos understand what’s happening when they feel afraid during treatment. Outside the hospital walls, when she is feeling good, she runs, laughs, and plays, always winning in a game of tag. Each day, she shows everyone, especially her parents, what resilience looks like. What it looks like is a little girl wearing her dress and cowgirl boots, running and laughing with a fearless spirit that refuses to let anything dim her joy.
“Watching Addison getting pricked and poked so often and seeing her bravery when she got her port placed reminded us to be brave for her. Despite everything, she is still the strongest little girl.”
Finding Love & Belonging
Addison’s family is grateful to receive grocery and financial support from Jacob’s Heart, but what has been the most life-changing for them is the extended family they have found.
Over the past two years, Addison and her family have built a supportive community at Jacob’s Heart. Addison’s mom knows she can call her Family Support Specialist when she needs to talk, whether it’s to vent, ask questions, or get resources to help her family through this journey. They are a true example that you can get through anything as long as you do not have to do it alone.

“Our first Jacob’s Heart event was a Christmas party. Addison had just started treatment and was very immunocompromised. We were so scared and nervous to attend. I did not know what to expect. We got there and it was like a warm embrace, as if everyone knew us even though we did not know anyone at the time. That was a moment of ‘ah ha’ for me. We are not alone, we have this support, and I felt so much better.”

The Power of Peer Support
While Addison and her family were in the middle of her treatment in spring of 2024, her mom was invited to the Jacob’s Heart Soirée. Though she felt welcome, it was challenging and emotional as she listened to other families speak at the event, reminding her of what they were currently battling. During this delicate moment, another Jacob’s Heart mom came up to her and gave her a big hug. Since that day they have been friends, supporting each other through the ups and downs of this journey.
We see magic moments like this at Jacob’s Heart all the time. By providing a space for families to come together, we see them share tears, laughter, and strength, knowing that at Jacob’s Heart they feel seen, heard, and understood.
"If we did not have Jacob's Heart, we would not have a safe space to feel normal. We would be at home and isolated. Please help us shine a light on Jacob's Heart and give today." - Adriana, Addison's mom
Thank you for supporting kiddos like Addison and her family as they battle pediatric cancer.
