Grow Your Hair, Grow Your Heart logo

Grow Your Hair and Grow Your Heart is fun for individuals and groups, raises awareness of childhood cancer, and sparks meaningful connections between our community and the Jacob’s Heart children and families.

It’s easy! Instead of shaving your head, Grow Your Hair and Grow Your Heart in support of a child with cancer.

To sign up, you and/or each member of your group agree to grow your hair (beard, mustache, head, legs, armpits) during Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September. We also invite you join us at our Kidrageous events so that the extended Jacob’s Heart community can meet you, learn about your team’s Grow Your Hair, Grow Your Heart experience, and create a personal connection with you.

And, it’s more than just growing your hair…when a family enduring the challenges of childhood cancer knows that strangers, neighbors, and friends care enough to grow their hair in their honor, they feel loved and supported…then, everyone’s heart grows!

How it works

Each individual or group member commits to raising at least $100 and to grow their hair during the month of September. Then, throughout the month, spread the word about Grow Your Hair, Grow Your Heart through social media and face-to-face when people ask, “What’s up with your hair/beard/mustache…legs?” And, if you raise $500+, you’ll get a Jacob’s Heart swag bag loaded with a t-shirt, cap, and water bottle.

We’d love to show you our family center and talk about the different ways you can support children with cancer and their families. Call Alex, Ishtar, or Vicky (831.724.9100) to set up a tour and/or to talk about how you can start to Grow Your Hair, Grow Your Heart.

Your  participation makes an impact.
$100 provides one of these services to a child with cancer and their family:

  • Groceries for 2 weeks for a family in treatment

  • Family or individual counseling sessions

  • Door-to-door rides to treatment (Stanford & UCSF)

  • Healing art activities for a family

  • A sleeping bag, pillow, and blanket for one child attending Camp Heart + Hands

  • Toys and clothes for a child during the holidays
